Rest assured when traveling abroad

E.SUN cardholders are entitled to travel insurance up to NT$50 million.
E.SUN cardholders are entitled to overseas itinerary-wide travel insurance up to NT$10 million.
These insurance clauses remain effective until March 31, 2024.

Important Reminder

  • Any incident or loss as a result of a strike, riot, or civil commotion is deemed an insurance exclusion, and therefore is not covered by the travel insurance / travel inconvenience insurance attached to credit cards (an airport paralyzed by people is considered a civil commotion.) For details of exclusions, see the insurance coverage scope or policy provisions.
  • In response to the Covid-19 pandemic, in the case an itinerary starts and a cardholder has departed but somehow is stranded in a foreign airport for 4 hours or more due to cancellation of flights, the cardholder may claim all resulting expenses accrued in the local place, including the expenses of meals, accommodation, and transport between the airport and place of accommodation, against the original copy of invoices or receipts. However, the scenario in which a cardholder has yet to depart for the itinerary or returns earlier at will, and any resulting expenses thereof, are not covered by the insurance.

Instructions for use

Using one of the Bank's credit cards to pay all public transport costs, or at least 80% of the expenses of an itinerary when participating in a group tour for the following insured will entitle the card to travel insurance benefits depending on the card category. (Excluding payment made by the credit card as an EasyCard).

  • “Itinerary expenses” refer to the money which is collected by a travel agency in the capacity of an agent of both the payer and the payee and covers all expenses required throughout the itinerary, including public transport expenses in full.
  • “Payment” means the money paid by the insured with a credit card through credit authorization for transactions with a transportation company or a travel agency, excluding payment of top-ups and fund transfer.
  • Ticket fare at a discount:Public transport fare in its entirety composed of tickets obtained free of charge, e.g., a gift ticket or a ticket as a lucky draw award, will not entitle the cardholder to travel insurance coverage attached to a credit card.
  • Insurance coverage will be canceled if the airfare or itinerary expenses paid by credit card are reversed. If the flight ticket you buy has a clause that restricts itinerary change, the airliner could only refund your ticket if the flight is delayed and canceled, in which case you will not be able to claim on the insurance attached to your credit card.
  • Claim is paid on a pay-as-you-go basis against documents.

The Insured

  • Cardholder.
  • Cardholder’s spouse and unmarried children under the age of 25.
  • ※ Prior to departure, the insured must have paid at least 80% of the expenses of itinerary provided by a travel agency, or the fare of all public transport tickets showing a reserved trip (flight) number confirmed prior to departure when the insured did not participate in an itinerary provided by a travel agency.

Claim settlement procedures

Travel insurance claim settlement procedures
  • Reporting of incident covered by the insurance
  • When the insured encounters an accident or injury incident, the insured or the beneficiary must report the accident/incident circumstances and the extent of injury suffered by the insured in the form of a written notice to the insurance company within 10 days after being aware of the occurrence of the accident/incident. After the notice is given, required documents must be submitted as soon as possible to claim insurance benefit from the insurance company.

  • When claiming insurance benefit, the beneficiary must prepare the following documents:
  • (1) Claim form.

    (2) Credit card statement of the insured that proves that all public transport ticket fare or 80% of itinerary expenses are paid with the credit card to which the insurance is attached, and a photocopy of the receipt issued by the travel agency in the capacity of an agent of both the payer and payee.

    (3) Transport ticket studs and a photocopy of the proof of reservation record.

    (4) A photocopy of travel record.

    (5) Those who claim death benefit or funeral expenses must additionally submit a biopsy certificate or death certificate and the household registration certificate indicating the death of the insured. However, when necessary, the insurance company may demand provision of documents proving the accident or injury incident.

    (6) Those who claim disability benefit must additionally submit a disability certificate. However, when necessary, the insurance company may demand provision of documents proving the accident or injury incident.

    (7) Those who claim the expenses of transporting a deceased body must additionally submit the original copy of relevant receipts substantiating such expenses.

    (8) Those who claim medical benefit must additionally provide a diagnosis certificate and the original copy of receipts for medical expenses.

    (9) A photocopy of the identification documents of the beneficiary. When a beneficiary claims “disability benefit”, the insurance company may examine the body of the insured. When necessary and upon approval from the beneficiary, the insurance company may retrieve the medical history of the insured at the expense of the insurance company.

    (10) A photocopy of identification documents must be submitted when applying for death benefit, disability benefit, funeral expenses, or expenses of transport of the deceased body for a cardholder’s spouse or children.

Travel inconvenience insurance claim settlement procedures
  • For the purpose of claiming expenses arising from delay of a flight, the insured must submit the following documents within 60 days after an incident:
  • (1) Claim form.

    (2) Credit card statement of the insured that proves that all fare of a commercial passenger aircraft ticket or 80% of itinerary expenses are paid with the credit card to which the insurance is attached.

    (3) A photocopy of the receipt issued by the travel agency in the capacity of an agent of both the payer and payee, and itinerary expense breakdown.

    (4) The boarding pass(es) or air ticket(s).

    ※ If the flight involved is a flight to/from an outlying island of Taiwan, the air ticket / boarding pass of both the delayed flight and the flight eventually taken must be submitted; in addition, the two air tickets / boarding passes must bear the same air ticket serial number.

    (5) The original copy of receipts proving that the expenses arising from delay of a flight are paid by the insured with his/her credit card to which the insurance is attached.

    (6) The original copy of flight delay proofs issued by an airline that substantiate a flight delay / miss of a connecting flight / boarding denial.

    (7) When claiming “flight delay expenses” for miss of a connecting flight, please state the original intended connecting flight and its destination, and the number of hours of delay.

    (8) A photocopy of identification documents must be submitted when applying for flight delay expenses for a cardholder’s spouse or children.

     

  • For the purpose of claiming expenses arising from delay of luggage or loss of purchased goods, the insured must submit the following documents within 60 days after the incident:
  • (1 ) Claim form.

    (2) Credit card statement of the insured that proves that all public transport ticket fare or 80% of itinerary expenses are paid with the credit card to which the insurance is attached, and a photocopy of the receipt issued by the travel agency in the capacity of an agent of both the payer and payee.

    (3) The original copy of the boarding pass(es) and air ticket(s).

    (4) The original copy of receipts proving that the expenses arising from replacement of travel documents are paid by the insured with his/her credit card to which the insurance is attached.

    (5) The original copy of proofs substantiating the delay or loss of luggage that are issued by the airline upon the occurrence of the incident, and the original copy of proofs substantiating the receipt of delayed luggage.

    (6) A photocopy of identification documents must be submitted when applying for luggage delay or loss expenses for a cardholder’s spouse or children.

     

  • For the purpose of claiming expenses arising from replacement of travel documents and the consequence of being stranded, the insured must submit the following documents within 60 days after an incident:
  • (1 ) Claim form.

    (2) Credit card statement of the insured that proves that all public transport ticket fare or 80% of itinerary expenses are paid with the credit card to which the insurance is attached, and a photocopy of the receipt issued by the travel agency in the capacity of an agent of both the payer and payee.

    (3) The original copy of the boarding pass(es) and air ticket(s).

    (4) The original copy of receipts proving that the expenses arising from replacement of travel documents are paid by the insured with his/her credit card to which the insurance is attached.

    (5) A photocopy of subordinated travel documents.

    (6) The original copy of a certificate or other relevant documents substantiating that the insured has reported the incident to local customs, police institution, transportation institution, or other institutions.

    (7) A photocopy of identification documents must be arising from replacement of travel documents or loss expenses for a cardholder’s spouse or children.

Worldwide purchased goods loss claim settlement procedures
  • When goods purchased by the insured are lost, the insured must exercise his/her duty of care to secure and retrieve the goods. When goods purchased by the insured are robbed, abruptly taken, or stolen, the insured must report the incident to a police institution within 36 hours after the occurrence of the incident; failing to do so within the specified time frame will lead to loss of entitlement to claims from the insurance company.
  • For the purpose of claiming benefit for loss of purchased goods, the insured must submit the following documents within 30 days counting forwards from the date the purchased goods are lost:
  • (1 ) Claim form.

    (2) A photocopy of the monthly statement or credit card receipts substantiating that the insured has purchased the goods using his/her credit card to which the insurance is attached. (presentation of an authentication code thereon is required).

    (3) The original copy of receipts for expenses for purchasing the goods.

    (4) Documents proving that the incident has been reported to a policy institution.
